2016 was Rockbrook’s second year hosting a weekly organic farmers market. The event features produce and wares from local farms and vendors. I was asked to create a new look to garner more attention around the city. Assets requested included a poster, business cards, social media images, various digital banner ads, vinyl banners of different sizes, a tote bag, and a bus bench design.
Working with a small budget and a request for custom illustration, I chose to custom design a few produce items and arrange them in different patterns to make the work more versatile. The bright colors with a slight watercolor texture on a white background were meant to create a sense of playfulness, and imitate the juiciness of the organic produce. The green of the leaves filling space emphasizes the organic aspect of the farmers market. I chose a calligraphic font to give a human touch and excitement.
APPLEDAY CRAFT FAIR
Every fall, Rockbrook Village holds a craft fair featuring local crafters. The event includes live music, fall themed treats, and homemade wares. Assets requested included a poster, social media images, various digital banner ads, vinyl banners of different sizes, and a bus bench design.
The Craft Fair branding was approached with the need to be consistent in branding with the Farmers Market, yet different enough to stand alone as its own event. I went with a similar use of pattern with a different style of illustration. Icons worked well for a quick turn around, and the shapes used in the pattern added elements of fun and enjoyment. The color scheme was chosen to stand out from more commonly used fall tones, and bright colors kept a consistency in feel with the Farmers Market. I chose a slab serif to add a bit of class while still evoking a friendly vibe in the different marketing elements.
